The experience of promoting domestic fish products on a regional scale and plans for implementing a national program for the popularization of Russian fish were discussed by the head of the Federal Fisheries Agency Ilya Shestakov and the Governor of the Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Solodov. This topic became one of the main ones during the working trip of the head of Rosrybolovstvo to Kamchatka.

The “Affordable Fish” project is being implemented in the Kamchatka Territory. As noted at the meeting, the program is expanding: the range and volume of fish products, which will be sold with a minimum margin, are increasing. An affordable price will be provided by both manufacturers and retail chains. According to the governor, the program will become permanent throughout the fishing season. “All this allows us to offer citizens affordable fish and its availability will expand. The fight against poaching will give confidence in the quality and safety of products,” said Vladimir Solodov.

The head of Rosrybrolovstvo emphasized the importance of regional initiatives for the popularization of fish products, the need to replicate experience and develop such programs into one, all-Russian one.

“The task is large-scale - the participation of the regions, business and the public is necessary. Kamchatka’s participation in the national program for the promotion of fish products is of great importance; best practices and guidelines for production quality are needed,” said Ilya Shestakov.

In 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin gave instructions to increase domestic consumption of domestic fish products. A “road map” has been developed - this is an action plan for the promotion and popularization of Russian fish products.

Under the auspices of Rosrybolovstvo, the Autonomous Non-Profit Organization (ANO) “Agency for the Promotion of Russian Fish Products” is being created. According to the head of Rosrybolovstvo, it is planned to open the ANO in August 2024.

“We hope that fishing industry will join in this work. We will develop and implement a powerful program, thanks to which we will be able to popularize domestic fish, create a culture of consumption in the country and increase demand,” said Ilya Shestakov.

The head of Rosrybolovstvo emphasized that the interests of the state and fishing industry in this matter coincide - this creates a sustainable platform for the development of the fishing industry of the Russian Federation.
