Bipartisan Bill Aims to Boost Domestic Seafood Production and Economic Growth WASHINGTON, D.C. — A powerful coalition of 140 open ocean aquaculture advocates—spanning the U.S. seafood industry, environmental organizations, chefs, and academics—has sent a joint letter to U.S. Congress leadership, strongly advocating for the passage of the Marine Aquaculture Research for America (MARA) Act of 2025 (S.2586/H.R. 5746). The letter was addressed to the leaders of the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and the U.S. House Committee on Natural Resources. The advocacy groups, including the Stronger America Through Seafood (SATS) coalition and the Coalition for Sustainable Aquaculture (CSA), argue that the MARA Act is a critical, bipartisan step toward establishing a clear, science-based framework for developing sustainable offshore aqua...
